Made To Order Foiled Colour Lead Times Back to Normal

CONTACT US

PVCu window frames aren’t just available in plain white. With our industry-leading PVCu profile supplier Liniar there is a whole world of colour waiting for you! We are pleased to announce that, following an unprecedented industry demand that resulted to lead time changes in the recent months, Liniar have this week confirmed that they have been able to reduce lead times on ‘Specials’ (Made to Order foiled orders).

Lead times for all Made To Order foiled orders will therefore return to 5 weeks for products foiled on one face and 7 weeks for products foiled on both faces, from the week commencing 15 February. Foiled items are becoming increasingly popular and we know that our customers will welcome this news which will help them better plan ahead their current and future projects.

We are also pleased to share that, due to an increased popularity, the Gale Grey Finesse colour will now also be available from stock on certain profiles. Gale Grey Finesse is exactly the same colour and RAL number as 7016 Grey (available in Woodgrain from stock and Smooth as a special). This specific finish offers a fine, almost matt appearance, which has become increasingly popular with those wanting a contemporary style and an aluminium effect.

Want to know more about foiled colours?

Here are some of the questions our customers have been asking us!

What are base substrate colours?

Base substrate is the base layer of PVCu material, to which foils can be applied. Liniar’s PVCu frames themselves are available in a choice of 5 base colours: white, cream, caramel, brown and black.

What are foils?

Window foils are specially made lengths of film that offer the appearance of a woodgrain or smooth surface. Foils can be applied either to the external face of the window, or the internal face – or both, and Liniar foils are available in a wide choice of colours.

How are foils attached to the PVCu frame?

Foils are permanently bonded to the PVCu profiles as part of the manufacturing process. Lengths of PVCu are fed through Liniar’s in-house lamination machine which seamlessly applies the colour foil onto the base material.

How durable are foil colours?

Liniar’s window foils are twin-layered. The base layer contains the colour and the top, transparent layer protects the colours against fading caused by UV radiation. As a result, our foiled windows are highly durable and we guarantee these for 10 years, although the colour typically last for much longer than that.

Is maintenance of foiled windows different to plain PVCu windows?

Foiled windows need a little more care than plain PVCu. You should avoid using chemicals to clean them unless the cleaner has been approved for use on foils. A wipe-down with soapy water should clean them, and if you see any minor scratches, you can fill them in with a touch-up pen.

How do I choose my foils?

Ask your Tradeglaze representative to show you the Liniar colour swatch booklet which contains a sample of all the colours and finishes available to our customers. If you’re prepared to wait a little longer, you can choose practically any coloured foil you like!
