Meet Our September Employee of the Month: Sophie Wetherall
We are pleased to announce that our September Employee of the Month is Sophie Wetherall, our talented Marketing Coordinator. Sophie has been with Tradeglaze for four years, and since November 2023, she has been a full-time member of our marketing team. Her dedication and creative flair with which she supports the growth of the business, and commitment to growing both professionally and personally, make her an invaluable part of our team. We’ve caught up with Sophie to get to know her a little better!
Congratulations, Sophie! Can you tell us about your journey with Tradeglaze and what you enjoy most about your role?
Thank you, I’m so pleased! I started with Tradeglaze four years ago while I was undergoing my studies at the London College of Fashion, where I studied Journalism. After graduating, I joined the marketing team full-time. What I love most about my role is the variety. One day I might be organising a business event, the next I’m managing our social media accounts or visiting customers to capture photography and write case studies for industry press. It’s the perfect mix of office-based and off-site work, which keeps every day exciting. I really appreciate the teamwork here—everyone is so supportive and always willing to help.
You’re a member of the Chartered Institute of Marketing. Can you tell us about your ongoing professional development?
Yes, I’m an Associate Member of the CIM and am currently working on my Continuing Professional Development, which will lead to my Chartered Marketer examination next year. Tradeglaze has been very supportive of my professional growth, and I’m always looking for ways to bring new insights and skills back to the team.
You recently attended the CIM Digital Conference and even had an article published. How was that experience?
The conference was a perfect opportunity to learn about the latest trends in digital marketing. I was able to bring back a lot of new ideas for Tradeglaze, from how to play the LinkedIn algorithm (and win!), to tips on how to use Generative AI in business. Having my article published by the CIM was a cherry on top. You can read the piece here.
What are you most proud of during your time at Tradeglaze?
I’m proud of the work we’ve done to elevate the Tradeglaze brand and change perceptions of the fenestration industry. Historically, the industry didn’t always have the best reputation but things are very different today. The double glazing sector offers many opportunities and more and more young people are joining it today. From fabricating and fitting windows, to marketing, technical consultancy and surveying, to customer support roles, there is an exciting career to pursue. Tradeglaze is a highly professional, forward-thinking company which has earned many regional and national awards, and I’m proud to be part of a team that’s driving innovation.
What do you like to do outside of work?
I love spending time in nature. Recently, I’ve enjoyed trips to the Lake District and the Cotswolds, which were beautiful. I also love going to festivals and watching live music! Another passion of mine is sustainability; I work with a local not for profit organisation called Project Fashion Fixed (CIC), which uses fashion as a lens to promote creativity and sustainability to young people locally.
Sophie’s Manager, Katerina Pickup, says: “Sophie has made a huge impact at Tradeglaze since she came onboard. She brings exceptional creativity and storytelling skills to the role, helping us expand our market share and strengthen our group’s voice in the region. She always goes above and beyond in everything she does and her commitment to learning and professional growth is truly admirable. We feel very fortunate to have Sophie as part of the Tradeglaze family.”
Congratulations, Sophie, on this well-deserved recognition. We are excited to see where you take Tradeglaze in the next 12 months!
