Tradeglaze Completes Sympathetic Window Replacement at Lincoln Smile Centre, Enhancing Efficiency with Conservation Timber Alternative Glazing
Products Used:
Location: Lincoln, Lincolnshire
We were proud to be appointed by Taylor Lindsey as the Contractor for the full window replacement at Lincoln Smile Centre, a busy dental practice located on West Parade within one of Lincoln’s Cathedral and City Centre Conservation Areas. Taylor Lindsey were undertaking a wider refurbishment of the building including re-roofing and re-pointing works; the window replacement works were a crucial element within the project to improve the lifespan and efficiency of the building whilst preserving and enhancing the external appearance.
The project required a glazing solution that would be sympathetic to the heritage of this late 19th Century building. Our team were challenged to replace the ageing timber windows with a high-performance alternative that remained true to the building’s historic character. Together with Taylor Lindsey, we specified and installed the Roseview ‘Ultimate Rose’ sliding sash windows.
With mechanically jointed profiles, an authentic deep bottom rail and an ultra-slim 35mm meeting rail, the Ultimate Rose offers a seamless traditional appearance that meets conservation requirements while delivering all the benefits of modern PVCu, including A-rated energy performance, ideal for improving the comfort and sustainability of period properties.
Our expert fitting team carried out the window replacement works while the dental practice remained fully operational, completing work with minimal disruption to patients or staff. Tom Smithard, Principal Dentist at Lincoln Smile Centre, commented:
“We were thoroughly impressed with the service provided. The team was incredibly efficient, friendly, and flexible throughout the entire window refit project. They delivered high-quality work with minimal disruption, and we wouldn’t hesitate to recommend them.”
Richard Bishop, Development Manager at Taylor Lindsey speaks on the success of the project:
“Tradeglaze were a pleasure to work with on this project. From initial enquiry through to installation on site, the team were easy to communicate with, attentive and proactive.
This was not an easy project; Lincoln Smile Centre is a busy dental practice with little space in the surgery schedule and an essential requirement for a high standard of cleanliness. Working closely with all parties, Tradeglaze beat the install programme, ensuring no lost business time. The window systems installed are excellent – sympathetic to the building and the setting but also functional. The works were completed ahead of schedule, to budget and to a high standard – as such we have no hesitation commending Tradeglaze for their efforts.”
The window replacement works have not only enhanced thermal comfort and reduced road noise but elevated the building’s street presence while supporting its modern-day function. The project stands as a testament to the coordination efforts of all parties.
Jonathan Brewer, Head of Sales at Tradeglaze, says:
“This carefully considered project is a great example of how modern glazing can be used to preserve heritage buildings while dramatically improving comfort and efficiency. Working within a live clinical environment and in a conservation area brought unique challenges, but our experienced team handled it with care and precision. We’re proud to have delivered a solution that enhances the building’s longevity and continues our strong relationship with Taylor Lindsey.”
