Meet our 2022 Employee of the Year: Nicky Wyles
We are introducing our first-ever Employee of the Year, Nicky Wyles!
Nicky has been in the construction industry for 18 years. He made the leap to specialise in double glazing by joining the Tradeglaze team in 2020 as our Trade Sales Representative. Even though his time here has been relatively short, he has made an enormous impact. Nicky works primarily with installers, builders and commercial clients, specifying Jackson Windows products for their projects through local branches of Huws Gray Buildbase stores. Since joining, Nicky has grown his order book at a phenomenal speed. He is a professional of the highest acumen, completely dependable and highly respected by his customers and his colleagues.
Nicky was voted our November 2021 Employee of the Month, an article which started with a line ‘Every Company Needs a Nicky!’. This is because of his unmatched ability to help anyone and everyone who needs it, with a smile on his face. He has become a go-to employee for many of our new team members, always happy to share his wealth of product knowledge. With a lot of doom and gloom in the news right now, Nicky’s relentless positivity offers just the perfect antidote!
And if that is not enough to win the Employee of the Year, Nicky has been also selected as a finalist in this year’s GGP Installer Awards 2023 in the ‘Rising Star’ category. The prestigious annual awards are hosted by the industry’s publisher Glass & Glazing Products and judged by an independent panel of industry experts including industry regulators FENSA and CERTASS.
The national GGP Installer Awards celebrate the excellence and hard work of the UK’s very best windows, doors and conservatory installation companies, both in residential and commercial sectors. Tradeglaze and our sister company Jackson Windows have been shortlisted for a total of six awards. We are very proud of Nicky and wish him very best on 16 March when we all get to find out who the winners are.
We asked Nicky what he liked the most about working for Tradeglaze and what advice he might have for anybody wanting to join the industry. This is what he told us:
“2022 has been a challenging year for all of us, but at Tradeglaze we are like a family. There is never a moment when you can’t ask somebody for help or advice as everyone who works here are genuinely nice people. It’s great to be able to come to work and have good banter with people but at the same time be able to knuckle down and get work done. Having that balance is what I like most about working here.”
“I’d also say, if you’re considering joining the industry, just do it! Jump in and learn everything you can, no day is the same and there is so much to learn. You can build your product knowledge, help lots of lovely customers with their projects and grow your order book at the same time.”
Outside of work, you can find Nicky spending time with his family, playing football, hiking and fishing!
